Swain Community Hospital to Host Lunch and Learn on Breast Cancer Awareness
October 09, 2025
Swain Community Hospital welcomes community members to a free Lunch and Learn on Friday, October 31, from 11:30 PM to 12:30 PM at the Swain County Health Department, 545 Center Street, Bryson City, NC 28713.
The session, led by general surgeon Joshua Pratt, DO of Harris Surgical Associates, will focus on breast cancer awareness, exploring how early detection, screening, and community support can make a lasting difference for families across western North Carolina. Participants will learn practical ways to understand personal risk, start conversations with providers, and encourage loved ones to prioritize preventive care. A virtual option will also be available for those who prefer to join remotely.
Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women, and staying informed is key. Through education and open dialogue, Swain Community Hospital continues its mission of making communities healthier, one conversation at a time.
Breast cancer awareness emphasizes saving lives through education, early detection, and support. As the community comes together to encourage open conversations about screening and prevention, more individuals are empowered to detect cancer early and place greater focus on healing and hope.
To make screening more accessible, walk-in mammograms are available at Swain Community Hospital. A provider referral is required to ensure every patient receives coordinated, personalized care.
The event is free and open to everyone, and lunch will be provided.
