Swain Community and Harris Regional Hospitals Name 2017 Mercy Award Winner

SYLVA and BRYSON CITY, NC – Swain Community and Harris Regional Hospital recently announced that Jamie Davis has been recognized as the hospitals’ 2017 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.

Jamie is a social worker in the Care Management Department and is extremely knowledgeable of his profession and has an endearing and gentle approach with our patients and their families. His passion for his work is reflected through the level of respect and dignity that he provides to every patient. Jamie is very active in his community where he plays the guitar in his church band and for other churches that are in need. Along with his daily duties, Jamie is also a member of Harris Regional Hospital’s Readmission Team, Community Care Transition Committee, Ethics Committee and the Community Mental Health Task Force. He is always involved and active in projects that work to improve quality patient care.
Each hospital winner, including Jamie, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2017 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August, to which Jamie and all hospital winners are invited to attend.
2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™
The Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ recognizes hospitals for providing outstanding patient experience based on 10 measures related to doctor and nurse communication, hospital cleanliness and noise levels, and medication and post-discharge care instructions. The award is based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient survey data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
